Feature Similar to keepalive_timeout in kong 1.2

Hi ,

we are looking for workaround for adding feature similar to keepalive_timeout introduced in kong 1.3 any way we can achieve similar functionality in 1.2 ?

we want to close the upstream connection within the definite time interval from kong side
