Change logging format in Kong

Hello everyone,

I’m new to Kong concept and need to change the logging format of Kong. For example, I need to customize the IP from the remote instances. I already tried to use X-Forwarded-For but I am still seeing load balancer IP. I am not seeing the IP on where the api call initiated.With that, I’d like to know how can it be achieved. Thank you so much in advance!

BTW, Kong is installed as ecs container.

Hi, This is a typical behavior/drawback of many reverse-proxies and load-balancers. Luckily for you, and as one would expect, there exist ways to circumvent them! Retrieving the client IP in your API First and foremost, Kong will set the X-Forwarded-For header for you since 0.11.0. You can use its value in your upstream services to retrieve the client IP. Thanks @thibaultcha. I’ll take a look at it. BTW, now we are getting IP of Akamai and not Load balancer
