# Write logs as JSON

Hi,

Is there a way to change access/error logs to JSON format?

I’ve tried using log\_format, but `escape=json` is supported in nginx only in 1.11.8 (Is there a roadmap for upgrading openResty, btw?)

Hi,

We are planning to bump OpenResty to the latest 1.13.6.1 for the upcoming 0.13 release, which thus includes the 1.13.6 NGINX core.

it would be great configure a json format through environment variables for docker-kong.  
Those json can easily passed to Elasticsearch later for indexing.  
Are you planning to do something like that?
