# Plugin idea for Kong Gateway free edition

Hey guys, I’m trying to create a plugin currently not supported by Kong free edition as a topic for my university assignment. I have been searching for some ideas for a few days, but none of them work as:

- Kong free has already supported a similar plugin (rate limit, proxy cache, authenticate, etc.). Or
- It’s only applicable in the company scope (RBAC, Kafka Upstream, etc.), which is hard to prove the plugin’s effectiveness as my resource is limited.

Any ideas or suggestions for me? Thanks a bunch.

I’ve an idea but your post seems very old. Let me know if this requirement is still relevant to you
